The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are battling in a Game 7 showdown of their NBA Playoff series tonight. It’s only fitting that a Western Conference semifinals filled with remarkable performances by Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards has come to this series-deciding finale. Tip-off from Ball Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
The Timberwolves surprised everyone by beating the Nuggets in back-to-back games on the defending champions' home court to open the series. After Denver fought back to win three in a row, Minnesota defeated the Wolves 115-70 in Game 6 Thursday, which set up today’s clash of the titans. Who will advance to the Western Conference Finals?

NBA teams were told Monday that Bronny James, the son of the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, has been medically cleared to play in the league and is expected to participate in the draft combine this week, a person with knowledge of the matter told The Associated Press.
Teams were told of the clearance in a memo sent Monday morning, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the league did not publicly release any details. All players at the draft combine in Chicago undergo medical examinations.
ESPN first reported the NBA’s decision.
The clearance determination was likely expected, given that Bronny James was able to play the final 25 games for Southern California this past season as a freshman. He suffered cardiac arrest during a practice session in July 2023 and needed a procedure to fix what was diagnosed as a congenital heart defect, then missed several months while recovering.
The NBA convened what is known as a fitness-to-play panel — three doctors who review medical records — to determine if James should be cleared. They determined that he is “medically able and fit to play basketball in the NBA,” which means he can take part in the combine.
James is on a roster to participate in on-court games Tuesday, though rosters and playing plans often change at the combine. All players at the combine are also expected to participate in a media session on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists at USC this past season. He has until later this month to decide if he is going to stay in the draft or return to college basketball for at least one more season.
The Nuggets will be significant 5-point favorites over the Wolves in this showdown. The winner of this game will move on to face either the Dallas Mavericks or the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
Facing elimination, the Timberwolves showed their mettle in Game 6 with a possession-by-possession dissection of the defending champion Nuggets in front of a rabid Minnesota fanbase at the Target Center. The Timberwolves led by 19 points at halftime and continued their assault enroute to a 45-point victory.
Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards guided the desperation with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists. Jaden McDaniels added 21 points, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Minnesota outrebounded Denver, 62-43. The frontcourt of Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 27 rebounds.
Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who scored 22 points, nine rebounds and two assists in the loss, stood on the bench the entire fourth quarter in a calculated daze as the Timberwolves ran roughshod. Point guard Jamal Murray was held to just 10 points on 4 of 18 shooting.
It was a microcosm of a series that flew off the rails early with four straight road victories as the Timberwolves seized control before the Nuggets pulled even. The two teams then traded home wins as Denver continued their surge with a 15-point Game 5 victory. Minnesota followed up with their own lopsided triumph.
