Vasiliy Lomachenko vs George Kambosos Jr for the vacant IBF lightweight world title represents a fascinating clash of styles. The Matrix is a supreme technician, with the skillset to be expected of a former Olympic champion, while Furious more than lives up to his nickname and brings front-foot pressure and relentless work on the inside.
Three-weight world champion Lomachenko hasn't had a strap for four years but the 36-year-old's determination and will to win hasn't dimmed in that time. The Matrix is one of boxing's most-skilled operators, a switch hitter with exceptional hand speed, head movement and technical quality, and will be desperate for the win after being on the end of a controversial points defeat to undisputed champion Devin Haney a year ago. With a future mega-bout with WBC title holder Shakur Stevenson on the table, there's no chance of Loma looking too far ahead.
Kambosos is also a former world champion, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history when beating Teofimo Lopez to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles at Madison Square Garden in November 2021. Back-to-back defeats to Haney for the undisputed lightweight crown followed in which he struggled, but a rebuilding win against Maxi Hughes last July was enough to win the minor IBO belt and put himself back in world level contention.
Ferocious, a former sparring partner of all-time great Manny Pacquiao, is a volume puncher who tries to make life on the inside difficult for his opponent, but will Lomachenko's grade tell?

The Ukrainian star is beginning a fresh pursuit of his dream to become undisputed when he challenges for the vacant IBF world lightweight title.
The 36-year-old won individual belts at featherweight and super-featherweight but had to step up to lightweight to attempt to become an undisputed world champion.
His initial bid was stopped by Teofimo Lopez in 2020 before he earned a second opportunity last year. However, again he was denied, as Devin Haney controversially emerged victorious by unanimous decision in May.
Haney has since vacated all four belts after moving up in weight and following a lengthy absence, Lomachenko will start again with the IBF.
Kambosos beat Maxi Hughes when he last fought in July, but despite that, the latter's former trainer is not backing him over Lomachenko.
After George Kambosos shocked the boxing world with his November 2021 win over Teofimo Lopez to become unified lightweight champion, it was expected his first title defense would come against multi-division former champion Vasiliy Lomachenko. Russia's invasion of Ukraine left Lomachenko unable to take the fight and Kambosos would go on to lose his titles to Devin Haney. On Saturday night, Kambosos and Lomachenko will finally meet with the vacant IBF lightweight title on the line.
Lomachenko began his professional career after being one of the best amateur boxers of his era, claiming a 396-1 record and twice winning Olympic gold. He would win his first world title in just his third professional fight, defeating Gary Russell Jr. to capture the WBO featherweight title.
By his seventh fight, Lomachenko had moved up to junior lightweight to win the WBO title and earned the WBA lightweight title in just his 11th pro bout.
Following his stoppage win over Jorge Linares, Lomachenko defeated WBO champion Jose Pedraza to unify the titles. Two fights later, a win over Luke Campbell added the WBC title to Lomachenko's collection.
Lomachenko was elevated to WBC "franchise champion" ahead of his fight with Teofimo Lopez, causing some confusion when the then-IBF champion Lopez defeated him in October 2020. The WBC had said their franchise championship was non-transferrable and Haney had been made WBC world champion, so Lopez was not technically undisputed champion.
The Ukrainian, widely considered one of the greatest amateur boxers in history with a near-flawless record at two Olympic gold medals from Beijing 2008 and London 2012, has found the transition to the professional game a bumpier ride to date.
Nevertheless, his record speaks for itself, and after missing out on Devin Haney’s unified crown last year, he can earn a fraction of vengeance by taking the now-stripped IBF crown from him.
But he is not the only man in the ring with eyes on the prize. Home nation hero Kambosos wants to earn back the title he lost and then failed to reclaim in a pair of defeats against Haney in 2022. He has already regathered the IBO lightweight title.
